2011 Garden – At the beginning of July, when my entire tomato and vegetable crop was really starting to fruit and take off – a freak storm (we were on the edge of a tornado that touched down a mile or two from our house) took out my entire garden in under 15 minutes. Sadly everything was lost including all my flowers and veggies. I almost lost my trees and bushes, too.

I am getting a mandrake root from a friend. I’m going to see if I can grow from a root start instead of mandrake seeds, which are tough germinaters. Sometimes even the cold strat and rinsing doesn’t work to help germinate the seeds. Or at least it didn’t in my case last year. I should have tried the seeds in the hydroponic garden last year but I was concerned the root would grow into the sponge and it would ruin the root.
