GUIDELINES: My Name is Legion

After an overwhelmingly positive support of the outline of this project from people on my FB Friends list, I’ve decided to go ahead without funding for this project.

Unfortunately I am only able to compensate contributors and artists with contributor copies.  The expense of contributors copies and distribution + proofing fees is landing squarely on me. However I’m so excited about the project that I’m willing to work extra to find volunteers, contributors who will work for a contributor copy, and come up with the money for essentials out of my own pocket.

Here are the guidelines, send in your contributions!

My Name is Legion: For We Are Many
Contributor Guidelines

My Name is Legion will be a book detailing the personal “how I came to my spiritual path” stories of Theistic Satanists, Demonolaters, and others who practice “dark” pagan-based paths. How they chose their religion and why, in their own words. The book will be released in both paperback and eBook formats.

Written Contribution Guidelines:

DEADLINE: October 31, 2011 (All submissions or proposals should be in on this date, deadline will be extended if we don’t have enough for a book.) Straggling submissions welcome through November 5, 2011.

Personal Stories should be between 1,500 – 3,000 words (they can be longer if necessary after you talk to the editor) and well written. Please use your spell check and do your best to use good grammar and structure. The editor/publisher reserves the right to accept or reject any submission for any reason.

What we’re looking for are unique, interesting, or compelling stories about how you came to your religious path. As the editor, I think I’d like to hear from people who were raised in one of these religions. I’d like to include one or two “typical” stories (what I find typical) like strict Christian upbringing leads to rebellion and worship of the devil – and belief evolves into something more than just rebellion. So even if you think your story isn’t unique or interesting – type it up anyway. You may not find it compelling, but I might. I’d also like a few pieces (maybe) from people who run covens/sects. I’m looking for a lot of diversity and writing that engages the reader in the story – showing not only that theistic Satanists and Demonolaters are normal, sane people, but also intelligent, well rounded, and interesting folks who come from all walks of life. They’re not Hollywood stereotypes (well some are, but certainly not all).

You may include a photo of yourself (no matter how obscure). Black and white is best since we’re not doing a color version. Photo is not neccesary (we can use one of our artwork submissions instead).

Formatting for Written Contributions:

All contributions must be in MS Word or Plain Text with no formatting (except paragraph breaks)! Leave the formatting to the professionals (us).  Please type your name or the pseudonym at the very top (the one you wanted PRINTED with the story). On the next line, type in either the city and state where you live (city and country if not in the U.S.). On the next line type your age and occupation. On the line after that, begin your story. Again, paragraph breaks are okay and encouraged. ;)

Artwork Contribution Guidelines:

DEADLINE: October 31, 2011 (All submissions or proposals should be in on this date, deadline will be extended if we don’t have enough for a book.)

Your artwork MUST be black and white, digital in high quality *.jpg format, at least 500 dpi. I have very wide and eclectic art tastes so if it feels dark or abyssal – send it! It must be 100% your own creation. No images from the web, please.  There is limited space for artwork (one to two pieces with each story is the plan) but if we run over, we might just do a little image gallery between stories or something.

Send it to: swordarkeereon@gmail.com with the words LEGION SUBMISSION in the subject header.

Contribution Compensation:

Each contributor will receive a contributor copy of the book when it’s complete. I’d like to put it out in January or February 2012. If this changes Contributors will be told.  Contributors will also have the opportunity to buy more copies of the book at wholesale.

Our Kickstarter funding did not go through, but we’re working on putting out the book anyway.

ALSO – If you support this project – PLEASE CLICK THE FACEBOOK LIKE BUTTON BELOW or copy and paste the link and share it!  Let’s get the word out! This has the potential to be a wonderful project that has the potential to further destroy stereotypes, educate the uneducated, and give a sociological glimpse into a modern religious movement that is still largely underground. It also gives us a voice.

I was brought up catholic but as I got older I started to see a lot of contradictions and saw how religions used fear to control people all of them think there right and anyone who disagrees is damned to hell for eternity and some of these people fighting this so called evil turned into the very evil their fighting and realized that we create our own reality so I became an Atheist.I was always interested in the occult and one day 7 years ago when I first met a friend of mine we were talking about witchcraft and paganism different belief systems and he suggested that I buy the Satanic bible and he wouldn’t tell me anything about it he just said read and make up your own mind on it ain’t what you and people think it is I had to know what he meant and the next day I bought Anton Lavey’s Satanic bible and it was everything I was thinking and looking for it really spoke to me it was written and put together beautifully and haven’t looked back since I live my life of my own freedom with out guilt I feel in powered it’s liberating not to feel guilt for natural feelings that we all feel.I really feel fortunate not to be part of the catholic or christian church with there stupidity and mindless conformity and I know it ain’t for everybody and that’s the way it should be HAIL SATAN !
